HMTI began with a mission to serve rural communities and Tribal partners across Oklahoma. After years of expansion, collaboration, and hands‑on training initiatives, we brought our programs together under one central campus to better support students and employers statewide.
August 2023
HMTI relocated its main campus to the MidAmerica Industrial Park in Pryor, Oklahoma, marking a major step in centralizing and strengthening its training operations. The new facility includes a 2,800‑square‑foot building and a seven‑acre training lot positioned directly behind the Google Data Center, placing HMTI in one of the region’s fastest‑growing industrial hubs. This move allowed the institute to consolidate previous locations and create a more efficient, purpose‑built environment for CDL instruction.
February 2021
The Oklahoma Office of Workforce Development awarded $500,000 in grants to support five industry sector partnerships working to address statewide workforce shortages. HMTI was selected as part of this initiative due to its role in solving the trucking industry’s ongoing talent gap. This recognition strengthened HMTI’s position as a key contributor to Oklahoma’s workforce development strategy.
February 2021
HMTI joined the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Oklahoma (AICCO), expanding its network among Tribal leaders, Native‑owned businesses, and minority‑owned enterprises. Membership in AICCO supports collaboration, economic development, and community‑driven initiatives across the state. This step aligned with HMTI’s ongoing commitment to serving Tribal communities and strengthening Native workforce opportunities.

HMTI was certified as an Indian‑Owned Business by the Cherokee Nation TERO (Tribal Employment Rights Office). This certification ensures that Native‑owned businesses receive fair access to employment, training, contracting, and economic opportunities within Tribal jurisdictions. The designation reinforced HMTI’s mission to support Native students and expand CDL training access across Tribal communities.
July 2020
HMTI relocated its main campus to Big Cabin, Oklahoma, following the acquisition of Franks & Sons Trucking. The 11‑acre property was developed into a custom training facility designed specifically for CDL instruction and hands‑on driver development. This move allowed HMTI to expand its training capacity and serve a broader region of Northeast Oklahoma.
June 2020
HMTI opened a second campus in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, extending CDL training access to Eastern Oklahoma and the Cherokee Nation. This expansion allowed students in rural and Tribal communities to receive high‑quality training closer to home. The Tahlequah location quickly became an important part of HMTI’s regional training network.
May 2020
HMTI partnered with Grand Nation, Inc. in Vinita, Oklahoma, to provide hands‑on training opportunities for student drivers. Trainees gained real‑world experience by picking up and delivering food to communities and Tribal partners across Northeast Oklahoma. This partnership strengthened both workforce development and community support during a critical time.

HMTI partnered with Cherokee Nation Career Services to provide CDL training for students enrolled in the High‑Voltage Lineman Program. This collaboration created a pathway for students to expand their skill sets and increase their employability in high‑demand fields. The partnership also marked the beginning of what would become the HMTI Tahlequah Branch.

Bobbie Wolf founded HMTI in Vinita, Oklahoma, with a mission to bring high‑quality Commercial Driver’s License training to rural communities and Native American Tribes. Starting with a small team and a big vision, HMTI quickly became known for its hands‑on approach and student‑focused instruction. This foundation set the stage for the institute’s future growth, partnerships, and statewide impact.
