Heavy Metal Training Institute offers comprehensive truck driver training programs in Northeast Oklahoma. New CDL classes start weekly and combine classroom instruction with hands‑on, on‑the‑road training. Training hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a 30‑minute lunch break.
All classes are designed for adult students 18 years or older. Before the first day of class, students must:

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Program
Tuition: $4,800.00
A federally approved Entry‑Level Driver Training (ELDT) program consisting of a 4.5‑week course that includes CLP preparation and pre‑trip inspection training. Students earn their Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) and receive hands‑on instruction to prepare for their Class A or Class B CDL, with no restrictions (automatic transmission available upon request).
This 160‑hour program includes:
- CLP class & permit testing
- DOT physical
- Pre‑trip inspection
- Defensive driving
- Coupling & backing maneuvers
- Basic road skills
- Commercial driver lifestyle training
Includes three skills test appointments. Additional tests require a $250 re‑test fee.

Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) Course
Tuition: $600.00
A federally approved three‑day classroom program providing the required ELDT knowledge to prepare for the written exams needed to obtain a CLP. This course is approximately 20 hours, offered online, and can be completed off‑site.
The CLP must be held for at least 14 days before taking the CDL road skills exam.
Written exam fees are the student’s responsibility. Current fees:
- Written test + permit: $81.50
- Retest fee: $4.00

Pre-Trip Inspection (PTI) Course
Tuition: $650.00
A 2.5‑day hands‑on training program teaching students the proper method for completing a Class A pre‑trip inspection. This 20‑hour course covers:
- General vehicle safety
- Engine & parts identification
- Coupling components
- Trailer inspection
- In‑cab inspection
- Air brake testing
Pre‑trip inspection is required to obtain an Oklahoma CDL.

Hazardous Materials Endorsement (HazMat)

A federally approved ELDT course providing the required knowledge for the Hazardous Materials (H) endorsement. This program is approximately 20 hours, offered online, and can be completed off‑site.

School Bus Endorsement (SB)

A federally approved classroom program providing the ELDT knowledge required for a Class B CLP with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements. This course is approximately 40 hours, offered online, and can be completed off‑site.
