VINITA, OK – Heavy Metal Training Institute (HMTI) is proud to announce its first three local drivers to obtain their Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

The Commercial Driver’s License program is a four-week course that includes the CLP and Pre-trip inspection class. Students earn their CLP and undergo training to earn their Oklahoma CDL. This course includes CLP class, pre-trip inspection, defensive driving, coupling, backing maneuvers, basic road skills, and commercial driver lifestyle. Students receive 160 hours of a combination of classroom and hands-on technical training.

Mike Lake, an employee of Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative and Vinita resident, earned his Class A CDL through the company training program at HMTI. “The owner, Bobbie Wolf, really knows her stuff. She’s patient and breaks the pre-trip down really well. She’s a great teacher.”

Kash Harlan of Big Cabin stands proudly on completing his training with HMTI. “I did it! I passed and got my CDL today. Thanks, Bobbie. I recommend anybody that wants their CDL to go to her. Heavy Metal will get you there.”

David O’Dell, a resident of Afton, earned his Class A CDL recently from HMTI. “I highly recommend this school to anyone in the state of Oklahoma wanting to get their Class A CDL. Bobbie is one of my greatest mentors I’ve had the privilege to meet. When I was ready to give up, she continued to work with me and push me to succeed. Give them a call today and turn that dream into a job!”

Owner and Director Bobbie Wolf said she has had students from all over Oklahoma, not just the Vinita area. Several people from the Oklahoma City and Tulsa area have traveled to train with Wolf. But the farthest has been Guymon, Oklahoma.

“We’re staying busy,” Wolf said. “I offer Monday through Friday classes. But, there’s also evenings and weekends for students who work full-time jobs and need to make ends meet. I do whatever I can for people to make it work.”

HMTI is accepting applications for March and April classes. Funding can be obtained through Oklahoma Works, Cherokee Nation Career Services, and other resources. Students who are interested should call HMTI for more information.

HMTI is a learning institution licensed by the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools (OBPVS).
